SOPA - web blackout coming?

The issue here really is that in many ways traditional publishing is a dying industry. The internet means that media goes direct to market...It makes a lot of what a publishing company does irrelevant. This is one of the ways they're trying to stem the tide. It's not an exaggeration to say if this were written into law it could change the nature of the internet. It really is an awful bill.

Good. 2 million. So what? It's illegal. Don't do it. It's pretty straight forward.

As for the "kids" downloading them because they would never buy that many, let's apply that to other things.

They probably wouldn't buy a few dozen new Cameros so why not go to the Camero dealer and just take them off the lot.

I see your point and we could come up with a lot of loosely connected situations but just because one thought process works for 1 situation doesn't mean it works for every situation.

If we wanted to we could take any sort of idea to it's irrational extreme and make a case against it but anyone can probably draw a line between downloading a CD and stealing a Camero. Hopefully you can.

And had they stolen Camero's, they'd likely face a less stiff penalty which makes the entire situation all the more ridiculous.

Not only that, but as I have said earlier......if piracy is what we have to deal with in order to have free and open information, I am cool with that.

Does stealing Cameros have a any sort of flip side like that? Nope.

If SOPA passes, expect one of your favorite websites to appear something like this.
