I don't think he's denying that Clark is treated poorly.

He disagrees with you as to why that's the case. You want to play the white/straight card but I think he's more right - it's a jealousy thing. Clark came in hyped as the savior of the league and it's quiet easy to realize that would likely rub many veterans the wrong way.
WNBA salaries have quintupled (5x) in the last year and she is widely considered the primary catalyst.

Technically, all those veterans making (or will soon be making) a 5x paycheck should be thanking her, but egos will be egos and people hate it when they get relegated to their spot on the totem pole when they aren't the one on top.

That's an enormous part of why people fight against equality rather than for it. Because they are afraid of losing their "perceived" position in the community.

So I just ran into this pic of her and I take my comments back…..
This ain’t the Sophie I know lol

I tend to agree with Cal and others.

The biggest driving issue here is that Clark came into the league with godlike hype and I think the players in the league who have had a chip on their shoulder about people denigrating the league, their demand for better salaries, etc. took it as a slight...............

Does race play a factor? Sure, I would guess for a small number. Her sexual orientation? Doubt it.

But the biggest issue was that you had established players fighting for respect and then along came this college kid that everyone said would save their league. I can see how some got rubbed the wrong way and have had it out for her.
I don’t remember Magic and Bird being treated this way when they came into the league and took it to the next level before they ever played.

I loaded up page 2 and completely forgot what thread I was in by page 3.

Holy OT from the discussion lol
