Sorry if I missed it, but how was Holland?

With all the talk about how horrible Barron was, I haven't seen any talk of Holland. Was his play OK? Or was his poor play just overshadowed?

From what I saw, Holland did fairly well. He played a very solid game. Now, mind you, I was mostly wrapped up in trying to understand what the hell Barron was doing out there so I may have missed a few things on Holland. I don't recall him being called out for anything though and, as an offensive lineman, if they aren't calling your name that's usually a good thing.

I think he missed a blitz pickup early on. But other than that from what i saw he played well. Did a good job singled up on Haynesworth a few times.

Well, he didn't hold on the last play costing the Cowboys a win so by most users' standards, he was awesome :D

In reality though, he was okay. He made a couple of good plays when I noticed him but most of the Cowboys plays in the first three quarters were quick dropbacks and handoffs so really hard to judge his play that game.

He was pretty good, if you ask me. Got out on a stretch play to block Rocky McIntosh, and got good push in the run game.

Romo never really held the ball long enough for pass protection to be a big issue, but Holland did miss an opportunity to help Gurode on a blitz pickup.

The biggest thing I noticed was that Romo was spending what seemed like extra time getting the protections called out. I wonder if he was picking up some of what Kosier would have done. Admittedly, I know next to nothing about what Kosier's job might be in making the line calls.

He was excellent. People want to act like he's not quick enough and all that but if you watched him in this game he got out on those screen passes and tosses to the outside very well and got to the second level with ease. The fullback dive from out endzone was all him and Gurode. The Miles Austin TD was him against Haynesworth one on one with Albert trying to bullrush him but he handled him and gave Romo all day to throw-ofcourse it was off play action so that has some to do with it.

He got bullrushed to the ground (couldn't tell if he was tripped or not) on that in-out route to Miles for 21 down the right sideline. Other than that, he was pretty good.

I'm not sure the blitz pickup was his fault. He had Haynesworth line up over him before the snap. At the snap, Haynesworth engages him then stunts out towards Free. Holland had to pay attention to Haynesworth and Gurode has to have enough awareness to pick up the LB sooner.

I'll be pissed if we bring Kosier back sooner and take Holland out after he's been playing well. At this point, I don't think Kosier is the better guard. What I envision for this Oline when Columbo gets back is something like what the Saints have. A powerful dominant interior that lets quasi impregnable and two OT who won't get bullrushed and can ride pass rushers past the QB. I think the interior is up for it and Free as well. The RT?

He actually seemed to move surprisingly well from what I saw. Got outside fairly quickly and was able to occasionally hit the second level with timeliness.

We still missed Kosier on the line calls though.

I'm Bleu and I fully endorse this statement.

Holland's name wasn't oft called and both guards kept the middle sealed up pretty good.
