the Cowboys had a bad game and still came away with a tie.

1. The run blocking was atrocious by the OL. The TE's, backs, and receivers also didn't block well on running plays.
2. Our FG kicker missed two very easy field goals.
3. Gurode had one of his worst games.
4. The QB's combined for three interceptions in the red zone!
5. Green was ineffective on punt returns and fumbled one of them.
6. Owens and Glenn played sparingly.
7. Julius Jones had negative rushing yards.
8. Newman was burned on a TD reception which didn't happen in the regular season last year.
9. The starting defense failed to register a sack.

The team played horribly and still came away with a 10-10 tie. I would say that is the sign of a good team. Lighten up!

Minny has a good team, and I think their interior line is one of the very best in the league.

I'm always embarrassed to come to this board after a loss. Apparently this year, the plan is to overreact wildly after ties, too. Yeah! I've only seen snippets of the game on NFL network, but from what I've seen and heard, it was a pretty evenly-played game on all fronts--which is what you'd expect when you end up with a tie.

Minny's made a living in the offseason off of opportune picks and stopping the run. It's because they're a pretty good team.

actually, i totally agree with ya.. these are things that are not usually gonna happen.. and really, the second half didnt bother me, besides the Vandy misses, because those are all backups.. im more concerned with the first units, and they were down 7-3 at halftime, but I watched the game and Dallas outplayed them, but just shot themselves in the foot a few times.. the only real concerns to me were the OL blocking for the run game.. they did a great job of pass protection, which for some reason is going unnoticed.. but.. the Vikes have a great D-Line, and we were without our best O-Lineman.. and the Vikings were playing 8 men in the box and run blitzing all day.. im not concerned..

To be truthful I care very little about anything that happened after the 2nd quarter. It is good to see some individual performances, but it hardly says anything about what to expect out of the Cowboys next week when they take on the Jags.

What did concern me to no end was the lack of running room the OL created. It would appear that most of the time JJ was being hit in his own backfield. That is a big concern.

I did not enjoy seeing Henry burned by another speedy WR. That is a another major cause of concern.

Although the Dallas D only allowed one TD to the Viking starters, they did not look impressive doing so. Dallas will face a better QB/WR/RB combo than Johnson, Williamson, and Chester Taylor.

I am not going to hit a panic button over yesterdays preseason game, but there was enough there to see for me to be concerned about it until Dallas erases those concerns by playing up to their potential.

Understand that the Dallas OL is average and possibly above average with a healthy Flozell Adams. The Cowboys aren't going to dictate to the better DL's-- the monster 4-3's: Minnesota, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, and maybe Detroit. But we can hang, because we play good defense and have solid skill players. The OL helps everything, but does not absolutely determine anything. Football is about 45 players and coaches trying to win all three phases of the game.

The Vikings DL on paper should be the best 4-3 DL in the country. Erasmus James, Kenechi Udeze, and Kevin Williams-- all very recent first round picks-- plus gigantic Pat Williams in the middle. Jacksonville with Stroud and Henderson compares with this team in the middle, but is not as good at DE.

Jacksonville's OL is also not as good, they lack receivers since Jimmy Smith's departure, their MLB is banged up, and their QB doesn't know how to win. There will be ways to beat Jacksonville, despite their strength at DT.

The TD that looked like it was on Newman....I think he was supposed to have help on that route from Watkins. Watkins went the wrong way, ook the wrong man, or was out of place. He got there late. Also if he would have been in position, or seemed to me anyway. All he needed to do was turn and he had the INT.

Just my thought and observation. But I'm not a coach, never been one. But that's the way it looked.

good post.

this board is unreadable after a loss.

it's also a bit absurd in the 4th preseason game for the opposing team to BLITZ so much... not complaining but it is foolish for both teams. seems like MIN was trying to please it's fans with a strong push into the regular season to get some excitement back in a tired franchise

I'm still trying to figure out how you tie a team that has Major Dad as their head coach

I am concerned that our first stringers lost their game. The game as a whole shows that we have depth to play with anyone but that our starters (especially on offense) will struggle against the better teams.

Minnesota played like it was a regular season game and they were the eagles.(Brad Childress) That defense was lathered up from the kickoff. A lot of cheap shots to boot.
