IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones isn't looking forward to seeing receiver Randy Moss next weekend in Minnesota.

Jones considers the trade that sent Moss from the New England Patriots to the Minnesota Vikings this week a great move for the team that knocked Dallas out of the playoffs last season and bad news for the Cowboys.

"They're better, and that's not good for the Cowboys to have Randy Moss over there," Jones said Friday. "There's no gilding the lily here. It will create issues."

Jones stressed that the Cowboys' focus is on Sunday's home game against the Tennessee Titans, but he's well aware that the next game on the schedule is Oct. 17 at Minnesota. Jones acknowledged that he's concerned about the Vikings combination of Brett Favre, who owns several NFL passing records, and Moss, who has more touchdown catches than every receiver in NFL history except for Jerry Rice.

Moss' history of killing the Cowboys also concerns Jones. Moss has followed up on his vow to make the Cowboys regret not taking him with the eighth overall pick in the 1998 draft. He has 30 receptions for 607 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games against the Cowboys, all of which were won by Moss' team.

"I apologize, I apologize, I apologize," Jones said of his decision to pass on Moss due to character concerns and make a safe pick by drafting defensive end Greg Ellis. "I don't believe that's going to do any good. He's too much of a competitor. He's a real competitor, and I've known all my life that when people say you can't do it or when people pass over you saying somebody else can do it, all that does is inspire you.

First time I heard Jerry apologize for not drafting Moss.

Good stuff. They need to use some reverse psychology on Moss to stop him. Just tell him he's unstoppable and they expect him to get 150 yards and 3 TDs against them

Good to see Jones giving major props to Moss. It will only inspire Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Roy Williams, and our entire defense! I like it.

If the Jets and Cowboys can beat the Vikings the next 2 weeks it probably wont matter.

If I were the players, I would be pretty disgusted with Jerry already cow-towing to Randy Moss.

Ordinarily these comments are made the week of the game. Not 2 weeks ahead of time. Instead of softening Randy Moss up, Jerry looks scared.

The hope is that Farve is breaking down... tendonitis... ankle problem.

But the Vikes in the noisey dome... Tough challenge.

Heck why not be scared? He'd done nothing to prove that he (Moss) is not the Cowboy's bogeyman. Even the shatty Raider team he was on beat the Cowboys. The fact is the chances are much greater the Cowboys lose this game (against the Vikings) than win it.

in all fairness, it is more likely than not you think we will lose more games than we win

I was thinking the same thing as Jerry but I just hope the players aren't thinking like this.

True. But we don't have to acknowledge it until a propitious moment. Like say the week of the game.

Moss instantly elevated the Vikings back into contenders.

The Vikes traded for Moss because they know that Dez is coming to town. They need someone to try and practice on to defend Dez.

Jerry said he was sorry, sorry, sorry, for not drafting Moss, now he's going to show Moss the he learned his lesson and drafted a player with a questionable background.

No Mass...no more. Tell it like it Dez.

:)

I'm pretty sure he was answering a question about Moss. No need to make a big deal out of it. I know in some fan's eyes, Jerry can't do anything right. But this is really not a big deal.

Jerry should do like Wade did when the Tennessee media asked him about Moss: "I don't know anything about that. All I know is that we play the Titans this week."

Of course, that's impossible with Jerry.

"Fact"? Says who?

We'll only face Moss once this yr becasue the Vikings arent going to make the playoffs.

True Choc. But Jerry is the owner. So it doesn't really matter whether he talks about Moss a week early, or walks the sidelines. But as the HC, it's Wade's job to keep his players focused on this week's game.
