I have an inside source that said it will take a tremendous offer from Miami to lure John Garrett down to Florida and that he really does not want to leave the Dallas area.

Apparantly John Garrett is very close to certain members of the family and it would take a great deal to move John away from his family. Just thought I'd throw that in there guys.

Reporter: John, after many sources exclusively told us you wouldnt want to move away from your family that you love so dearly and a team you wanted to work for, and the water you walk on, the diseases you cured and the most remarkable TE corp that the NFL has ever seen, why oh why did you sign on to the Dolphins and bring your magical abilities to Miami when you stated so many times you love your family and team and players and fellow workers?

John Garrett: One thing people didnt figure in when spewing such inside sources, I LIKE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, guys, I'm just saying, it's going to take a great offer from Miami, not just money wise, but the situation has to be right and he has to fit in with the coaching staff. He's very close with his family in Texas.

I understand, and the Garretts have shown that. I appreciate the "extra info" dont get me wrong. Just one of those days and you happened to walk right into my crosshairs.

Thanx again man.

I also i should add, i could as a fan watch John go, not entirely understanding if he was better for the team than what my eyes shown and what my brain understood of the facts that were only presented and not uncovered by the media, so using my degree and expiernce of football, i most certainly pulled my opinion out of you know what.

Sure -- but the chance to go there and be the OC is pretty huge. If he has any aspirations to move up the coaching ladder he has to have success on a team his brother doesn't coach.

I get what you're saying, but how much of an opportunity does he have to be successful in Miami where the coach was one move away from being fired? They do not have a QB and that definitely has to factor into his decision.

For example, what if the OC of the Texans gets a head coaching opportunity in 2012, and then John gets an interview for that job.

I think you're right, i think some of the professional guys arent going to jump at every opp out there. And the Garretts are a tight knit family and those guys came to him with the death of his wife? Was that right? So, i think you are correct in the fact its going to take a good amount of talk to get him to hop to Miami.

You are 100% right. They've become even closer after the death of John's wife. There's a lot of stability with the Cowboys coaching staff right now. Garrett is guaranteed to be the Dallas head coach in 2012, and the same cannot be said for Sparano in Miami..

I agree, look at how Jason didnt jump at the Raiders or Balt. I think the Garretts want to amke sure the ladder they climb is more stable. thats just opinion tho.

Anyone who wants to move up can't play the "gee, what if position X opens" game.

I've never seen Hard Knocks, so what does John Garrett look like? Is he a redhead just like his bro?

I didn't say it would be the sole reason he does or does not make the decision, but it definitely has to be a factor.

A position coach who turns down an opportunity to be a coordinator is going to take himself out of the running for future jobs. The whole argument about not having good talent is meaningless. Teams evaluate performance in terms of what the coaches get out of what they have.

That's not true. Just having the chance to interview for an offensive coordinator position is a great opportunity in itself because it gives the coach experience with the interview process. Owners talk to other owners throughout the league all the time, and if John has an impressive interview, I guarantee it will get around the NFL and he'll get other opportunities down the road, if he doesn't take the job in Miami.

It was Judd Garrett's wife, Kathy, who died. John's wife, Honor, is still very much alive. Kathy's death was why the Rams let Judd go, so he could be in Dallas closer to the rest of his family. John and Judd both have 4 kids, and he is a widowed Dad with those 4 kids.

I am not surprised he might stay even if they do make him an offer, and I would not blame him if he left for that offer. The Garrett's consider themselves a Cowboys family. All of them. Of all the jobs Jim Garrett ever had, it is this team that he built his roots for his family with.

Thanks for the correction, Hos. Wish I had a family as close as they do.

i doubt it now a days with cell phones and they can call and keep up or tweet their complaints and what have you. Maybe back in the old days, you know the 70's and 80's but not now and not where you have to have interviews for certain people so we all feel equals and the new mindset of the new league as the media gives us our opinions and everything.

I really think the Garretts who interact, know the peoples, know the players, and probably do the picnics and what have you, can make slower more safer moves than some of the younger guys getting their feet into the league and need to make the jump to the raiders regardless of what happens.
