Source: Commanders had no 2013 cap space to carry over

Earlier today, Tom Pelissero of USA Todayreported that the Commanders opted not to carry over $1.3 million in cap space. That was news to the Commanders.

Per a source with knowledge of the NFL’s calculations, the Commanders had no extra cap space in 2013. They actually ended up over the cap by $834,732, based on the computation of so-called “not likely to be earned incentives.”

Interesting but kind of vague at the moment. Weren't the Giant's the ones who basically reported us two years ago for cap violations?

Supposedly 6 teams were over due to incentives and PFT says it's not something that is penalized.

I get that you don't want cap space to be utilized by NLTBE money because any incentives there aren't earned means the players lose out.

Seems like it should deduct from the following season though.

If I understand right it does, and our cap space was reduced by 0.8 million, because of those incentives. Personally I want to know who on the Skins last year performed beyond expectations???

I'd like to think Garcon did...If there was ever an incentive not likely to be reached by a Skins player, "Lead the league in receptions" qualifies I would think.
