The Washington Commanders are seriously considering drafting University of Tennessee safety Eric Berry with the fourth overall pick, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

"The Skins thing is real," a source told National Football Post.

The Commanders were expected to go with an offensive tackle, either Russell Okung or Trent Williams. with their first-round draft pick to try to protect new quarterback Donovan McNabb.

However, Berry's talent may dictate them to go in a different direction.
Being the best player at your position certainly has some perks.

Berry has visited the Commanders, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 5-foot-11, 211-pound junior recorded 83 stops and two interceptions last season as he won the Jim Thorpe award as the nation’s top defensive back). Berry recorded 241 career tackles, three sacks, 14 interceptions and three touchdowns.

In addition to the Browns and Buccaneers, Berry has already met with the Kansas City Chiefs (fifth pick), Washington Commanders (fourth pick) and Philadelphia Eagles (24th pick).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Go ahead and let them do it. 2 top 5 picks at safety. Not gonna help them.

Sean Taylor, LaRon Landry, and Eric Berry

Three top 10 safeties.... lol

Maybe they are just floating that out there to get KC or another team to trade up.

I'd much rather see them do this than get a top tier tackle. They don't have enough picks to make a luxury move like this.

that would be a great move for us! no protection for mcnabb equals injury, little pass rush and poor corners negates saftey play...

Potentially great great player. Incredibly stupid pick for you needs tho..

Wow. This will make me absolutely sick.

I may just fall out and croak.

Or

Turn into a toad.

Please, God.

Don't let a Vol legend go to that putrid team.

They ruined the last one they picked.

They can't ruin Berry, but it sure would kill me seeing him play for the enemy.

lol, i hope they do that instead of drafting a LT. mcflabb is gonna get murdered this year. :laugh2:

This is probably just a ploy to get a team to trade up 2-3 spots and let the Foreskins re-coop a pick or two that they have squandered away.

Flozell Admas would love that pick. If the Skins take Berry, that means Flo's value just went up. Who else is out there at LT? And the Skins have no 2nd or 3rd rd pick.

I would love to see that very move. I would then think that Shannahan believes that the NFC East would put up with a ton of cheap shots at opponent's legs from substandard offensive linemen. Maybe he would also be taking out with Lloyd's of London, special injury insurance for his quarterback as well?
