Like collegiate athletes training at facilities across the U.S., Raymond has been working on his speed in the 40-yard dash and his proficiency at a half-dozen other drills that scouts use to grade players.

The most important for Raymond, who is 6-feet-2 inches tall, is the 40-yard dash. He has been running 40s since grade school, when his uncle used to mark off the distance with two spare shoes.

When he tried out for the Bulls, Raymond flashed NFL speed when he posted a time of 4.47 seconds.

Hey, cowboyjoe.

There is a CB from Miami (FL) who may be a second round pick, not Brandon Harris. If he runs well...

CB is a really deep position in this draft.

Ryan Hill

I read if he runs a 4.4, he could be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I read where Prince Amukamara is estimated to run a 4.45. I heard an interview from him and was very impressed with his character. However, I'm with Bunting on this one; I wouldn't take him in the top 10, especially in a very, very deep CB class and with an offensive line that is in very poor shape. If you don't take an OT, you will not get one.

Having stated that, it wouldn't surprise me if Dallas drafted him at 9 if he runs and performs the drills well at the combine. I don't think that would make the team better in 2011. Newman would likely get released, and I think that would be a big mistake, especially with Rob Ryan's opinion of him and how Ryan could help him.

Two word argument for taking Tyron Smith at 9:

Mark Colombo

Two word argument for taking a DE at 9:

Igor Olshansky

Counter 5 word argument to DE argument:

Romo
Witten
Austin
Bryant
Felix Jones

Counter point 3:

20 year old potential franchise LT, in the mold of D'Brickashaw Ferguson, with RT experience/best pass blocker in draft/very good run blocker

Counter point 4:

Smith is a better athlete than Free who is scheduled to be a restricted or unrestricted free agent. Plus, Smith has more upside and is 7 years younger. Smith could anchor your line for 12 years.

Counter point 4:

If Free gets hurt, who goes to LT? Brewster? Young? Davis? Yikes! Season over!

Counter to taking any CB other than Peterson in top 10:

CB is the deepest position in the draft.

Newman will not go quietly, and he will fight.
