Deji Karim-RB- Player Mar. 11 - 3:45 pm et

Southern Illinois RB Deji Karim was timed by one scout at 4.37 in the forty-yard dash at Thursday's pro day workout.

Not invited to the Combine, Karim also posted an impressive 43-inch vertical and 10'3" broad jump. After sitting out 2008 with a patella tendon injury, he rushed for 1,694 yards (7.1 per carry) and 18 TDs last year. The Saluki looks like a possible late-round gem.

Just stay under the radar and dont get drafted, then sign with Dallas as a UDFA......that would make me most happy

At Northwestern today, Southern Illinois RB Deji Karim measured in at 5086, 209 pounds and ran a 4.37 and 4.40 in the 40-yard dash. He jumped a 43-inch vertical, 10'3 broad jump, and completed 19 reps on the bench press. We have not received his short shuttle or 3-cone yet but we know the scouts asked him to run the short shuttle twice because they were so impressed with the first one.

His 40-yard dash, vertical, broad jump, and bench reps put him in the top 5 among running backs at the combine and his vertical would have been the best overall.

This workout improves his chances of being draft and likely places him in the 5th-6th round range. After the workout everyone wanted to talk with him compared to just a couple of teams prior to it.
