This is the future of exploration; more than likely, as the cost of doing anything is so great that governments are limited in how much they can spend.

In a lot of ways space travel is like air travel in the 1930's. The tech is kind of the same as well; still really in its infancy.

I can see that. The basic principles of rocketry haven't changed, but the methods they utilize to harness and direct that power has. There is a limit for how much rockets can contribute to space exploration. It can get us to the moon and Mars. It will take another technology to get us farther. I think there are some propulsion methods that have been imagined that can take us past our infancy. It will take methods that are currently only conceivable as science fiction that can get us into deep space exploration.

To truly go farther, we will need two things: Fusion reactors and artificial gravity.

There’s enough negative energy here to bring anything down.
Is there an award for biggest complainer on the site? Never has a positive thing to say; always telling others to leave; always attacking other posters. I mean that has to be a consideration for that award, right?

..how bout we tell Elon to focus on Earth issues. Plenty to do down here.

Wasting his money on pipe dreams. We couldn't even build a working farm on the moon.

Yet, he wants to space travel...

It is a form of delusional distraction.

With the level of tech we have now, probably he should concentrate on terrestrial concerns.

What are the Engineering Challenges in Returning to the Moon?

IF I was going to make a permanent moon base, I would drill five miles down and use a small nuke to make a large cavern that would be sealed due to the extreme heat; the residual radiation would quickly fade away. Then you would have a mile wide place to build a base. Nuclear reactors, breeders, would give you all the power in the world. You could even make two caverns and just use one for the power plant. Lots of room; extremely well shielded from solar radiation; completely safe and stable.
