Mickey writes about the OTA's, and the players missing form them at this point. Can actually be a blessing as the younger players get more reps.

"But no one really gets too bent out of shape over those not participating. Hey, it's May. Not head coach Mike McCarthy. Not those in the upper offices. Not the team leader, Dak Prescott. These workouts are pretty sanitized. No pushing. No shoving. No competing for a ball in the air. Mostly mental conditioning, knowing where you're supposed to be and what you're supposed to be doing on a particular play or defensive call."

He should have written .... after the bolded part ..... except some of those fans in the CZ .... :muttley:

"The goal for every offseason program has always been tailored to the young players and even more so the second-year players," McCarthy has been quick to point out. "Between now and the end of minicamp (June 4-6), our players have to have everything they are going to be asked to do in training camp because if they don't have it before they leave here, they are going to be behind.

Imagine if so many other players could have gotten more reps, opposed to some of the starters, maybe we could have seen them get more time in the game and not cut them due to lack of reps

It's not a problem............ NOW.

But when guys who want new contracts don't show up, yeah, it starts a ball rolling down the hill. Elliott did the same thing and we saw how that turned out.

I'll remember that this was the pivotal point of the 2024 season that would launch this team to the SB

This is the kind of "outside the box" strategy that this team has been lacking

I'm all in with this new approach.

and you sound like you think you know what you're talking about these OTA's and mini camps and all this stuff are called voluntary for a damn reason they're really for the young players everyone needs a story so they write one they make a big deal about it and then they say ridiculous things like this these guys work out year round they have their own coaches they're in great shape this isn't your father's NFL anymore... You know back in the day they played twelve games and then they had 14 games and now they had 16 and now they have 17 games to play and they're trying to add an 18 these players are being pushed to the very end because football is the toughest sport or we'd have a series instead of A1 and done in the playoffs you know this is not the NBA or the NHL...

Let me say it again it's voluntary what do voluntary mean it literally for those who feel they need the extra work they come there is so much practice in training camp that's where the veterans and everybody are supposed to show up is training camp the rest of it is for guys who need to work and there are a lot of dudes that don't get enough snaps and enough reps that's what these are for....

Only a fan sitting behind this little PC is gonna make bold statements shock value nonsense about this athletes not wanting to work hard you know this has not just the Cowboys you know would you like to go find a list because I would implore you to go find a list of the entire 32 teams and all their veterans that didn't show up for many camps and OTA's that are voluntary and I would also implore you for all the other dumb stories on here to go find all the guys who should have got paid already that are waiting on contracts because they weren't paid right away but it's a Jerry Jones issue because that's what you guys wanna make it even though this is just a league issue it happens it's all over the place it is commonplace....
Please go save your judgments from your area of expertise you need to block your way out of the $10 billion franchise because you think you know the NFL you think you have a handle on sports and all you get is what they allow you to get these dudes work their *** off behind the scenes they just don't choose to show up yet this early because they know how they have a long camp and it is and by the way thanks for skipping the article and missing the entire point by being that guy that they were describing having a problem when there's no problems...

You mean all the pushing and shoving in shorts these dudes are basically doing a walkthrough I don't think they're getting physical and ain't putting pads on and tackling I know that for sure so you're point is falling way short....

A: Not showing up to get a head start on getting to know the new coaches and their systems, or getting to know and setting an example for the new players, or to contribute in setting the tone for a 'work hard', 'we're all in this together' team culture.

or

B) Don't show up and accomplish none of that.

You be the judge.
