Some people are glass half full types. And then there’s you.
What are the positives from not having full participation?

(Guaranteed you either ignore this relevant question or respond with some childish 'nana nana boo boo' response.)

Come on now, how is the glass half full in this case?

The positives are that the vets like Cee Dee, Parsons, Martin and all established vets don’t need OTA’s. They’re for teaching. They’ll get plenty of time to get reaclimated with mandatory mini-camp and training camp. Another positive is less risk of injury and fresher legs going into the season.

fresh legs making mistakes and being sloppy does not sound like a plus

So in your opinion the established vets already know everything and don't need no more learning AND they have no value in helping the younger guys learn the ropes of the NFL? Not to mention the whole team building and culture aspect?

The injury risk, beyond pulled and strained muscles, is essentially nonexistent, so quit your whining about that.

That's the difference between me and you Rocky. You're looking at it from a 'me first' attitude with regard to the veterans whereas I'm looking at from a 'team first' attitude.

Now ain't that some crap, what with all the constant whining about the non-team first attitude you bring regarding the membership here at the Zone.

Carry on with your whining.

Why are these OTA's called "voluntary" if those who don't show up are going to be vilified for not having enough commitment, desire or leadership?

Make them required participation and stop the hypocrisy of criticizing players for not showing up to something that was voluntary.

I refer you to a thread made earlier this week by 'Risen Star'.

The NFLPA is putting forth a proposal to get rid of OTAs starting next offseason.

and you sound like you think you know what you're talking about these OTA's and mini camps and all this stuff are called voluntary for a damn reason they're really for the young players everyone needs a story so they write one they make a big deal about it and then they say ridiculous things like this these guys work out year round they have their own coaches they're in great shape this isn't your father's NFL anymore... You know back in the day they played twelve games and then they had 14 games and now they had 16 and now they have 17 games to play and they're trying to add an 18 these players are being pushed to the very end because football is the toughest sport or we'd have a series instead of A1 and done in the playoffs you know this is not the NBA or the NHL...

Let me say it again it's voluntary what do voluntary mean it literally for those who feel they need the extra work they come there is so much practice in training camp that's where the veterans and everybody are supposed to show up is training camp the rest of it is for guys who need to work and there are a lot of dudes that don't get enough snaps and enough reps that's what these are for....

Only a fan sitting behind this little PC is gonna make bold statements shock value nonsense about this athletes not wanting to work hard you know this has not just the Cowboys you know would you like to go find a list because I would implore you to go find a list of the entire 32 teams and all their veterans that didn't show up for many camps and OTA's that are voluntary and I would also implore you for all the other dumb stories on here to go find all the guys who should have got paid already that are waiting on contracts because they weren't paid right away but it's a Jerry Jones issue because that's what you guys wanna make it even though this is just a league issue it happens it's all over the place it is commonplace....
Please go save your judgments from your area of expertise you need to block your way out of the $10 billion franchise because you think you know the NFL you think you have a handle on sports and all you get is what they allow you to get these dudes work their *** off behind the scenes they just don't choose to show up yet this early because they know how they have a long camp and it is and by the way thanks for skipping the article and missing the entire point by being that guy that they were describing having a problem when there's no problems...

You mean all the pushing and shoving in shorts these dudes are basically doing a walkthrough I don't think they're getting physical and ain't putting pads on and tackling I know that for sure so you're point is falling way short....
Nick Bosa and Fred Warner showed up for 49ers OTAs. Unlike Parsons I’m sure they lack professionalism in regard to staying in shape, and unlike Parsons they need the additional work to be familiar with their team’s defense and newcomers that may end up being their teammates. And like you said, it’s voluntary. No big deal.

. No competing for a ball in the air. Mostly mental conditioning, knowing where you're supposed to be and what you're supposed to be doing on a particular play or defensive call."
This is why I wish Micah was there. We’re putting in a new defense and he’s our defensive cornerstone. It would be nice to have our main defender there learning the defense. I’m assuming, well hoping, they’re in some contact with him to teach him.

I do like the idea of Kneeland and some of these other young guys like Tolbert and Brooks getting as much reps as possible with Lamb out.

Taking advantage of opportunities is all this is, redirecting experience to different players.
