Yes, and ignore the 800-pound gorilla: no credible backup QB or a QB for the future.
First off, who said one couldn't be signed in free agency prior to the draft?
which one?
While I see all the needs on defense I suspect in a couple years when romo is gone those opposed to taking a QB and grooming him for the future will be singing a different tune
The way I see it Bosa, Ramsey or name the guy at 4 is gonna make this defense better but not a SB caliber defense while having a franchise QB ready in a couple years can mean a decade of not having to watch the Chad Hutchins or Quincy Carters coming thru
If I thought one defensive player would make this a good defense I might think differently and what we do in FA could change things but I don't see a defensive player at the top of this draft who is gonna make this a good defense by himself but a QB in a couple years could make the offense much better than what we will have after Tony if we don't start looking down the road at some point
That 800lb gorilla has a 6% chance of winning a SB in last 20yrs top 5 pick draft.... EXACTLY 2 top 5 picks QB have won.... Both have Manning as a last name.
6%

No No NO
We need a back up QB with that 4th pick. You know, so he can watch, learn & sit the bench.. Then when Romo is hurt, he can come in & be the savior.
All the while, our same D can't stop Scooby Doo & Shaggy, from running up and down the field.
Solid thinking I tell ya
Scooby-Doobie DOOOOOO
Skipped the 6th grade mentally huh?
So, bloke, in your world the QB has fallen from key position to a complement to the defense. Interesting.
Heh.
Many of duck QB's have won SB with TALENTED STRONG defense
How many SB victories do you remember:
QB performance or
STRONG D performance?
Now, now. Can't we get alone here without the petty insults?
Let us be more gracious without the "blah-blah-blahs" and the "skipped the 6th grade" inferences.
I propose a day -- today -- without invective. Reality would be proud of us. OK, who's with me!!!!!
FA implies, old fellow, and I infer that such a player would be older rather than young. And possibly/probably more expensive. Of course, a high QB draft pick might cost a pretty pfennig, cut I guess that is the cost of doing business.
A QB to make this offense better? Oh my....its taken Romo years to get to this point. So a new QB, will come in & taken our O to new levels? Didn't you witness life without Romo running this offense?
Thats asking a lot of a new QB
Look, Bud...I'm not a five year old subject to your own whims and use of information ignored...carry on, pal.
Get into the conversation prior to flying off on a tangent...
Also, try keeping up with a group of postings provided on subject...to wit, a 'younger' free agent is needed right now, as a pass rusher and a defensive tackle. (coughing) That would happen prior to the draft and point out to any fans wondering team directions.
I prefer drafting FOUR, defensive linemen during this draft...but that would project into rotation and a stronger showing NEXT season.
How does Marinelli keep his job?
