We didn't lose to the Giants because of Barber or the offensive strategy. We lost because of our receiving game. TO and Glenn were less than 100%, Fasano dropped a TD and Patrick Crayton, well, you know. And of course the defense has to share the blame big time.

I'm not sure what Spags point is here. Yeah Julius had something, but he lost it, so the Cowboys let him go. What should they have done? As far as Barber's style, Spags shouldn't knock it. MB3 is a touchdown machine. The team gets pumped up when he's in there.

I think Spags seems to be implying that Jones was a good back that stubborn headed Parcells ruined and that all of the fans that rode Jones the entire season, while putting their faith in Barber are delusional. He seems to be implying that we are pretty much screwed at tailback, unless we get someone in here who can duke and dodge tacklers and split the load with Barber, i.e. Barber is not a full-time back and his 2nd half performance in the Giants playoff game proves it.

i thought it was actually a very good article, offering some explanation as to what happened to jj...'running doubled up' doesn't work for a dorsett type runner, and despite what we have seen the last couple of years, jj flashed absolute greatness in his rookie season. my final diagnosis: big bill wrecked jj. big bill has had success with other runners, but not with this one...jj could not revert his style back to the 'early' jj even after big bill was gone...

i do think we will see jj have a resurgence in seattle, and i think we will continue to see big bill have success with other runners, but this one, in my opinion, was not a match made in heaven...

I know its popular to talk about the 2nd half of the giants game and say mb3 broke down, but nothing could further from the truth. I've rewatched that gave several times, and there were absolutely no holes. He was stuffed everywhere he went. Remember the pressure they put on Romo? That Dline stepped it up bigtime in the 2nd half.

If anything, watching that game, I came away with thinking Barber IS a fulltime back.

That might have been the stupidest article ever written.

Yeah, if everything goes perfectly, Jones has the ability to break a game open. Thanks Cpt. Obvious. We freaking know this already. But all that "something" Mickey wants to claim Julius had only showed up on rare occasions, against horrible defenses for the most part. Look at the players who torched the Bears, Giants and Seahawks back in 04. Look what their defensive rankings were. Jones has enough athletic ability to take advantage of those situations.

What he didn't have was heart, vision, escapability, agility, vision, or vision. Enormous problems that Mick glossed over with "he was trying to emulate Marion". Please...

If he's so good, why did we make him available, Mick?

"You can't keep running over linebackers and defensive linemen, you can't make it for long in the league running like that," this veteran personnel guy said of Barber's style and second-half fizzle. "You can not hit them guys head on carry after carry. You got to make 'em miss sometime."

just another reason not to give barber a big contract.

I actually thought it was a good article. I was always a Jones supporter. I'm still skeptical of Barber, although I will admit im more partial to the breakaway speed type of guy. Whatever works though.

Actually he made a very good point... Dallas was a big play team all year long and in the playoffs they went the reverse.

SO Super how do you explain the Carolina 2005 game? Or the Seattle Playoff game= or those other games that he got 90-100 yds. He had talent and you just do not want to admit it. One of the reasons I ignore you most of the time.

I thought it was one of Mickey's better efforts of late, like this decade.

Julius did show promise. I think the comination of BP wanting to make him something he's not and his own weak/fragile psyche is what did him in. We needed him to be a compliment to Barber, not a clone. He should've been used to his strengths. Part of it was coaching trying to change him and partly him wanting to be like Barber since that was popular. But we made the right and only decision on him in letting him go. He was never go to be anything here again.

And as for Barber, I love his hard nosed style, but I do question him being an every down starter over the course of a 16 game season. But I don't think he will need to be since I think we will definitely take a RB on day one of the draft at the least.

And even though everyone complained all year about JJ starting instead of Barber, I think we made a mistake in changing what we did all year for the playoffs. Granted, we should've still won, but I think we would've been better served slugging it out in the first half and then let a fresher Barber batter them in the second half like he did all season.

Anyways, we just need to get a good solid compliment for Barber in the draft and we should be in much better shape this year.

Whats there to explain? He played well once in a blue moon and didn't do much the other times.

I like Julius and wish him well but IMO, he got too infatuated with being a muscle man.

I don't see anyone saying Barber will be or can be an everydown back. I think that is not in vogue anymore because there are truths to it. It's obvious that most backs can't take 10 years of abuse. There's nothing wrong with Barber. He's just not the type of runner who avoids the big hits at the last second. Actually he's the one delivering the big hits.

I think he'll last longer than some people think but he is a high impact player and eventually he'll injure himself or be injured. There are too many ways a RB can get injured just running the ball much less looking for impacts.

Jerry and all will find a RB partner to compliment him if possible or just to find another starting material type back. It will be harder to miss out on a RB in this draft compared to most anyway.

I'm still on the Felix Jones bandwagon. That's assuming we don't end up with a Chris Johnson, Stewart or Mendenhall.

BTW, to stay on topic I think JJ will still contribute. I see him being used more to his skills in the WCO.

So let me get this straight...

Julius' poor 2007 is now being attributed to his supposed attempts at trying to run like Marion Barber?

And we're supposed to be sorry he's gone?

If the guy was really THAT stupid, good freakin' riddance.
