1. Haynesworth spent last season quietly complaining about the amount of run responsibility he had in their 4-3. He doesn't want to have to deal with the run he wants to be strictly a pass rusher.
Now you want him to play DE in a 3-4 where his entire purpose will be to worry about the run? Uhhh...no.
2. He's lazy. Period. People can make all the excuses they want for the guy but he's proven it over and over and over in his career and he proved it again last year. The only time the guy doesn't play lazy is when he's going for a contract. When he's got one he's lazy and doesn't care. Again, no.
3. He plays, if you're extremely lucky, 50% of your defensive snaps during the year due to his laziness and the fact that he's completely out of shape all the time. So now you want to get rid of Spears who will show up, and play hard, every down of every game for you that you want him in with a guy who likes to take huge chunks of games off? Again, no.
There is absolutely zero upside to bringing in this guy.

It does make you wonder

They need some help setting up that new 3-4 and Spears fits that. He's an immediate starter at DE for them and can play back up NT in a pinch.
Haynesworth will then LDE along with Hatcher, and then give us the most disruptive 4 man rushing front in the league.
Spencer, Rat, Haynesworth, Ware

Haynesworth = bad attitude, bad worth ethic
TO = bad attitude, good work ethic
Who's a worse football player?
