Special Teams Concern?

I hope Tim Scott get more looks on ST. He blasted a guy on a KR. It was the only solid ST tackle I saw all night. But I don't think he is being used as a gunner on punts.

He also completely whiffed on the blocked punt return for TD.

*I see that Plankton is way ahead of me on this.

Not really imho.

Agree to disagree. IMHO I'm questioning our ST coverage. Backups need to know how to play ST and tackle also. If not, we may as well leave our starters in the whole game. I mean, who gets injured on ST anyway?

The offensive line is a serious concern too. Or maybe its preseason. No, the offense is doomed.

Even though the special teams have not distinguished themselves thus far, it could be worse.

The blocked
I can not think of a time in the last 5+ years where I have not thought the Special Teams (minus the FG Kicker) has been questionable, at best, in preseason games and sometimes into regular season games in various areas.

So to answer your question...there are indeed others who are concerned about STs.
The blocked punt for 6 pts. was pretty bad, too.

Not sure how the return game is going to get fixed either.

The 9era had great field position to begin every drive with their returns.

Ugh.

Fully realizing the Cowboys' tendency to utilize each and every warm body seen as a potential ST player, it is difficult at best to make an educated guess as to how they'll be likely to perform in the regular season (sigh). This scenerio seems to repeat itself each and every year, with varying results, whenever the bullets start to fly for real.

We miss Harris' gunner ability possibly even more than his reliable return skills.

I am concerned with special team coaching , Rich Biscuit is camp cupcake or clueless , don't know.

His teams are not special , pun intended ....

The special teams have sucked the last several preseasons in a row but that ST coach seems to pull it together by the time the season starts. *fingers crossed*

I think Game 3 will show who they think their ST should have maybe except for 2-3 guys. I think they keep moving guys around and in and out to see what they have once the 53 gets cemented I think the ST will sort themselves out. I do not think it will be a stellar unit but I think it will be much better than what we have seen in the PS.

It's concerning because other teams' special teams haven't been looking like ours, which makes me think this may be a coaching issue. There's no reason for the opposing team to start at their 40 nearly every play.

Our special teams have struggled for the last couple years now. Was very surprised to see Rich Bissachia re-signed at the end of the year. Made no sense to me.

Other teams can field competent groups, yet with all the talk of our "depth" we still can't even get the basics down.

I've been keeping an eye on the Bengals roster, primarily the RBs. They have pretty good depth and it's possible that two can be cut from this group (Watson, Wilder or Peerman). I think Watson can help us out most at RB and that's the guy I want, but keep an eye on Peerman. If our ST coverage continues to look poor for the remainder of the preseason, Peerman should be seriously considered. He's Cincy's ST captain and was #2 in ST tackles last season. The biggest drawback is that Peerman probably won't contribute much in the running game.
