not sure if I'm remembering this correctly but wasn't the 2009 draft supposed to be all about special teams players?

Uh...never mind.

I thought of that the other day and one of the players that was slated as the best ST players of that draft has spent more time in rehab than playing.

The 2009 draft so far has been absolutely pointless.

It's frustrating to see so many players without any of them show up.

Just do what I do to make myself feel better-

Pretend we drafted Miles Austin in 2009.

Hey we got Buehler, who no longer even kicks touchbacks, Jason Williams who doesn't grasp the fundamentals of zone and Victor Butler who I haven't seen since preseason. There's still hope!

You need to have a ST coach as well, and I think thats been hurting us. either that or we draft dumb players as most people think. But than again we must be the only team to do that because ive seen other Special Teams out there and they do fairly well for what they have to do.

So either we draft dumb players, and dont blame our scouting department, or our special teams coach sucks. The part I like to think of is the coach. In fact I would like both gone, the scouting and the coach, but thats just me.

I dont think it was offically a special teams draft, I think some of the people might have dubbed that, but I dont think so over all.

Lol, what?

In case you missed it, Joe DeCammilis completely transformed the special teams last year. The man he replaced, Bruce Reed, was an absolute joke.

Look, the Cowboys dumped Pat Watkins, its best special teams player before the start of the season.

They decided to go with guys like Mike Hamlin (no longer on the team), Barry Church (rookie) and Danny McCray (also a rookie).

In fact, Jerry's stupified "special teams" draft has yielded only three players from the original 12 draft picks that actually have contributed anything this season.

David Buehler (contributor)
Stephen McGee (3rd string developmental QB)
Jason Williams (a box of rocks for brains)
Victor Butler (contributor)
Brandon Williams (usually inactive)
John Phillips (IR)
Manny Johnson (practice squad)

That's pathetic.

Watkins and Cricket...both played a big part on ST.

Kind of makes you think of our mid-90s "draft for back-ups," no?

Love the sell job and thought process of Jerry that supersedes the "get the best players available" mentality. Wheel and deal for low round picks to ultimately cut. Trade down!!!

SOO funny seeing him trying to obtain the title of "draft wizard" that was applied to Jimmy when he was here.

Patrick Watkins wasn't a bad safety either. He was at least better than Ball.

yeah, another thread making me feel better today! lmao

The 2009 draft was more about a few bottles of gin, more hookers and having greasy BBQ. Jerry was too busy...

On the kickoff return right up the gut, Dallas had two WRs who couldn't get off blocks.

You do need safeties and linebackers...

Sensabaugh and Church both missed tackles on that...
