When will Mr three phases actually improve our special teams? We need to consider Adore Jackson, John Ross and Donald Pumphrey or whoever else has elite sp teams ability. Lucky is trash and Beasley is captain fair catch. I'd rather Ross but I'd take Jackson at 28 also.

I wouldn't draft a guy for ST though ability as a player being equal I would take the guy with ST skills over another guy

All three guys I named would add value other than sp teams. Pumphrey would be an upgrade over Dunbar

In no way, shape, or form do I even consider STs contribution on our first round pick.

Victor Bolden Jr. out of Oregon State. May be another Devin Hester type returner.

I don't think anyone suggesting it the main factor but if you have say two cb's will similar grades and one is a good return guy that is a factor

Out of those three, Jackson is really the only one that's actually returned punts. Ross did a couple of times his freshman year, but nothing in recent years. They are all good kick returners, but with so many kickoffs starting at the 25, I think it's a skill that's been devalued if not overrated.

If we retain Williams then Ross should be the primary punt returner/future starter. I wouldn't put him at kick return though.

Jackson I'd put at both spots. Explosive tier 1 athlete with huge upside at corner. Again, if we want to parrot all three phases let's put up or shut up and improve the unit.

That's assuming Ross would make a good punt returner. They are a different breed than kick returners. If it meant just being fast and shifty, then Dunbar would have been perfect for the role. But there's mentality to returning punts that prevents a lot of people from being good at it.

Agree about Adoree though. He has shown to be electric in the role.

I've paid more attention to Adoree recently as a cb and he will eventually be great. He just needs coaching.
