There's a lot of disagreement between the Elias stats at ESPN and the Stats numbers at other sites with regard to these categories. I got these from the NFL gamebooks, so they at least reflect the NFL's version of what happened.

Ware made 24 tackles of any kind behind the line of scrimmage for a total loss of 134 yards. They broke down into 15.5 sacks (tackled player was attempting to pass), and 8.5 stuffs (tackled player was running). That's further broken down according to whether the player was tackled on a run play or had just made a pass reception. I gave half-credits for stuffs, just because it seems to make sense to do so. Stuffs are running plays unless otherwise indicated.

1. Ware 24 (-134)
sacks 15.5 (-115)
stuffs 8.5 (-19)
--run 6.5 (-15), rec 2 (-4)

2. Scandrick 7 (-38)
sacks 2.5 (-28)
stuffs 4.5 (-10)
--run 1.5 (-4), rec 3 (-6)

3. Spencer 6.5 (-38)

sacks 5 -34
stuffs 1.5 (-4)

4. Bowen 5.5 (-28)
sacks 1.5 (-21)
stuffs 4 (-7)

5. James 4.5 (-10)

sacks 0
stuffs 4.5 (-10)
--run 4 (-8) rec .5 (-2)

6. Brooking 3.5 (-14)
sacks 1 (-9)
stuffs 2.5 (-5)
--run 2 (-3) rec .5 (-2)

6. Ratliff 3.5 (-28)

8. Lee 3 (-5)

Epic thread title.
:laugh2: absolutely

Do we know who league leaders are in both the sacking and stuffing categories?

Great thread, it's amazing what % of these team stats Ware comprises.

what shocks me is that the Rat did not have ONE SINGLE STUFF the whole season.

I've had friends tell me Rat isn't anything to write home about in the run game but I guess I never paid very much attention because he has always been so good rushing the passer.

This year with just 3.5 sacks I guess the fact that he is average to below average for a 3-4 NT in the run game stuck out a bit more than usual.

Ratliff was very good at both until last season. He had 7 stuffs in 2009, and 5 in 2008.

Teams simply started just mauling him in the run game. Without Spears and with Igor being ineffective, there was nobody else to make stops along the line.

It's been said a million times, but the best thing for Rat would be a huge monstrosity of a DT to come in and stuff the run, and allow him to play more on passing and nickel situations. Because he's not that big for a 3-4 DT, those double teams wear him down which, in turn, affects his pass rushing. He's a better pass rusher than run stopper imo, so we should use him for that.

I think Sexy Rexy said he's going to be moving people all over the place too, so that should help Rat get freed up and into one-on-one attacking positions as well.

moving people around and getting matchups you like is something pillsbury doughboy never did.

I think Rat's problem would be somewhat rectified if teams couldn't get away with doubling him every single snap almost. I would see enormous stretches every game where he was doubled on every play.

Edit: didnt mean to put the video icon up there lol
