I was listning to Steeltown Sports Radio this morning. One of the hosts who they call Steeltown Mike was answering questions about Cowher. Unlike our own hosts, this guy is well respected among his audience. He always seems to have a inside track as to what is going on with the Steelers which has earned him the respect.

Any who, one of the discussions was about Cowhers future in Pittsburgh. It seems those close to Pittsburgh realize this will be Cowhers last season more then the rest of the general public does. The general feeling was Cowher is going to take some time off before deciding if he wants to coach again but Steeltown Mike chimed in saying that he has spoke to several people close to Cowher and while he is leaning towards taking a year or two off there is ONE phone call that could change his mind and that would be a job offer from Jerry Jones.

Again, just speculation but we might as well get used to it. 39 days and counting until Parcells must make his decision unless Jerry makes it for him.

Oh I think Jerry made that decision last night. You can see it in his "press conference" after the game, Parcells is gone.

Cowher will coach in Pittsburg or not at all next year and then he'll be taking over for Fox in Carolina. IMO.

Thanks for the information! This is interesting.

I have a question. Something I don't understand.

I could understand Cowher wanting a year off. I could understand Cowher wanting to return to coaching after taking a year off.

But why leave the Steelers for the Cowboys (and skip the year off)? The Steelers organization has been good to Cowher. Why would he jump ship for Dallas.

Would it just be about $$?

The only thing I gather (I listen to the show daily every day) is that even before this year Cowher was not sure if he wanted to return. He has had some head banging sessions with the front office and felt Pittsburgh was not doing enough to maintain a SB calliber team. A few members of his staff I guess expressed concerns that Pittsburgh was headed towards rebuilding and not making another SB run.

If that's the case I can see why he would want out. Again, we don't know the whole truth but these guys are pretty good when it comes to reporting this stuff.

The sad part is I'm at that same point.

I wonder what the odd's are of Bill returning but being told he needs to clear house with the defensive staff.

Cowher is fed up with the "cost-cutting" baloney in Pittsburgh and we all know Jerrah is not afraid to spend money on his coaches or his players.

No, I heard a Pittsburgh writer interviewed on a local Toronto radio station and he said the very same thing about a week ago. He thought Dallas was the place he would most likely go if a position came available.

What about what Jeff Fisher has done with Tenn. this season?

I know some on here don't like/want him, but you have to respect the job that he has done with what little he has to operate with.

cowher is probably saying this gig is the one...he has a good qb, a real offense, an up and coming defense...an owner who will spend, all we need is a few players....and a real coordinator

yeah that aint happening, Jeff Fisher just bought himself a longterm contract extension in Tennessee...he's done an awesome job there and the owner is already on record saying Fisher isnt going anywhere

I've always liked Fisher as a HC

Fisher however doesn't get along with Floyd Reese the GM. I think Bobby Petrino might be the best fit.
