Did anybody hear the post game on 1310 the speculation is that the only reason the Buehler is still on the team is due to the team trying to avoid an injury settlement.

That's a dumb reason to hold onto a player. An injury settlement pays a player through the time when he's injured. So whether you cut him and agree to an injury settlement or keep him until he's healthy, then cut him, you're paying him the same amount.

If we're not going to use him when he's healthy, then we should either cut him now or put him on injured reserve. Wasting a roster spot to save a measly $30,882 per game isn't worth it.

It wasnt Norm on yesterday it was Donovan Lewis and some guy I dont really know making that speculation I was just wondering if anyone else heard this.

This is the first I've heard of it and it doesn't really make much sense to me.

Of course it's not my 30,000 dollars a week that I'd be giving away in a settlement so of course it's very easy for me to say it doesn't make sense.

I'm certainly no expert, but I think that if a player is already under contract for the next season, and they are injured (and may not be able to play again this season and possibly the next due to such injury), if they are cut while injured they are entitled to a settlement based upon their next year's salary - maybe 50% of it- which is paid in installments the next year. Of course, if they 'get well' before the next season and re-sign with their original or another team, they forfeit their settlement $.....
In theory, I think the injury settlement $ is sort of like a 'going away' present for guys hurt who won't be able to play again.....
of course, the new CBA may have changed it substantially, but that's what I'm remembering.....

Another example of the Dallas sports media not having a clue and just spouting stuff off for no legitimate reason.

If Buehler is healthy, I would think Dallas wants him kicking off this week in Philadelphia. Big game where we can't afford for the other team to start at its 35 to 40 after kickoffs. Plus, we won't be kicking off in the friendly confines of Cowboys Stadium.

That would only happen due to a season ending type injury. But normally when waived injured in that situation the player still goes to the team IR if no other team picks them off of the waiver wire.

I mean....Jerrah is NOT destitute, I don't care what anybody says! I can see a LONG shot scenario where they don't want to set a PRECEDANT by paying this guy and then getting burnt later on...but.....no, I just don't buy it. Jerrah and Red LOVE them some Buehler. Strangest damn thing I've ever seen.:bang2:

I love Bailey the fg kicker, not so much the kickoff guy.
