It seems pretty clear that if not now it will happen soon that the owners will dump it. There are all kinds of poison pills that will happen if the owners and players do not come to a new agreement. The end of the salary cap, a probable strike, etc.
I am curious what you guys think the NEW CBA will look like. As stupid as some on both sides are, I think they will come up with a new agreement.
When that happens is one of the unknowns.
I would love an uncapped year= but the small market owners know that would be horrendous for them even with the limits that are on it.
The players want the CAP gone even as they understand the need for one.
Revenue sharing will be probably the biggest hurdle since there truly is a wide split between big and small market owners/rich vs super rich owners.
IF I had wish list I would say having a salary cap for rookies is one big one; and less pressure on the BIG owners to fork over more money to the dumber and lesser owners. I think a carrot and stick approach is best; force the small market guys to work harder= a lot of them like Benson and BIdwell frankly just sit on their butts.
On FA a discount for re signing your own people=and even more for those that you drafted. Maybe even a Franchise designation for one player to NOT have his contract counted for a period of say two years or one third of his contract. Just to make things a little more intricate.
Also a later trade deadline and above all else LARGER rosters. The owners have been really stupid about this and it has hurt a lot of teams over the last few years.
