What about a trade with the Jets for Spencer? They want to get rid of Revis so why not move Carr to Safety which we know he can play quite well, then trade Spencer and his $10.6 mil cap number to the Jets for his $3 mil cap number.

I know that supposedly the Tampa 2 doesn't value CB because of the zone coverage scheme but at least the defense would have a lot of options with both Revis and Claiborne able to cover one on on and very good press coverage.

It also would put us under the cap by $1 mil, solves the safety problem because I believe that Carr would be as good as any safety in the draft, and allows us to focus on the RT, OG, DE and DT in the draft and free agency.

Thoughts.

That would be an expensive secondary is my thought.

I still don't understand the love/ideas of putting large amounts of money into positions that play furthest away from the ball.

I appreciate the passion to think outside of the box in regard to moving players but the only way I would accept a move like that was if our trenches were already solidified. They aren't so I'd have to pass on this idea.

No way. Way too expensive and leaves us again with no pass rush. We've been having problems for years because of the 3-4 defense rushing.

The whole point of the Jets trading Revis is because he only has 1 year left and they don't want to pay him. So why would they trade for a player with only 1 year left on his contract as well? Not to mention the talent difference between Spencer and Revis is pretty big, we would also be sending a package of picks along with Spencer. And that is just out of the question in my mind.

No. Stop it.

Pass Rushers an Trenchers are the name of the game on Defense, who are they foolin'?

NOBODY

Spencer is highly under rated. Let him play for a 4/3 DE contract in 2013. He should succeed.

This.^

If they're not paying Revis, then they're rebuilding. Revis is 27 and Spencer is 29.

Great logic. Trade a guy that will be paid 40-60 million, for a guy that will garner 90+.

OK, first Revis is hurt so your trading for a question mark. Second, you are trading a weak position group at DE to get a player for a stronger position group at CB, if we lose Spencer we don't have a DE. Third, Carr isn't great at safety, and at that price tag he better be great.

Revis will probably be a 49er, and basically make the entire NFC look up to them as the team to beat unfortunately. The 9ers will be an absolute monster if they pick up Revis, and yes he is a CB RS, but one that is that big of a difference maker to take them to another level while you want to turn us into the Cleveland Browns. :D
