I was doing some thinking and I know what some of you are saying, "you actually think?" The answer is yes but very seldom.

But the question I asked my self was, who does Spencer compare to and what did that player get in free agency. I was looking at a player in the near past that had a similar role that hit free agency and what kind of deal did he get.

I came across Ray Edwards, who once played for Minnesota. He was a 4-3 DE on the strong side opposite Jared Allen. Alittle like Spencer is to Ware. Stats are similar.

Edwards signed a deal with the Falcons 5 year 30 which is probably what Spencer will get going to a 4-3 team to play DE. I would say Spencer almost warrants that type if Edwards did. Remember who the two DTs playing on that same DL was with Edwards at Minnesota which helped inflate his stats. Much like how Avril playing next to Suh helped him.

What you think, is this comparable? Should Spencer warrant a deal close to Edwards, if not then who do you compare this situation to?

The other day I thought 5 years, $32 mil, so we're close.

ray edwards career was made of his destruction of colombo in our playoff game.

He went on a tear at the end of 2009, no doubt.

I think the Cowboys would jump all over 5yr 30 million.

so would 5 year 35 be much different if the contract was back loaded and structured like Edwards was. So lets say his last two years are the highest but can cut him after year 3 with out much of a cap hit.

The cowboys would be all over a 5 and 30. But you don't even consider franchising a player who's going to sign a 5 and 30.

We're likely talking 5 and 40...
