Jerry should be familiar and comfortable with this. Joey Galloway was done after one game and a torn ACL his first year in Dallas after Jerry gave up 2 first round draft picks and restructured his contract.

This is status quo for Jerry.

This is status quo for Jerry.

A better example is a 1, 2, and 3 for Roy Williams. That was worse. Joey Galloway just got injured, but was playing lights out in Seattle and Aikman sanctioned it. Spencer came off an MVP calibre year for the Dallas defense.

The Cowboys still made the right decision to franchise Spencer. He had 90 tackles and 11 sacks in fourteen games last year. If Jerry Jones didn't make the mistake of franchising him, some other team would have given him a six year mega-deal and REALLY would have looked dumb. The end market was really dry this past spring; and who knew George Selvie was going to pull his career out of the league's scrap heap?

JJ has made some dumb moves. But in this case, who could have known Spencer would wreck his knee running a conditioning test? I give him a pass on this one.
