Spencer's future may be Inside

Adalius Thomas played inside linebacker or plays inside linebacker?

Both. Pats like to have at least 2 jokers in LB corps.

I felt like Spencer could be a good ILB in our scheme since last year. Not saying he won't eventually become a good OLB for us but I too agree he has the skills to play cover ILB in our scheme.

Just saying.

Anthony Spencer has been nothing short of brilliant in coverage IMO. The Denver game is a great example too. While ultimately he gave up the TD, it was absolutely, absolutely a PERFECTLY placed pass and slipped right through his fingers.

He had that guy completely covered and somehow the ball still got there, but it impressed me a ton that he was so close being an OLB (typically not known for their coverage skills).

Hes also been very solid against the run and been able to get plenty of pressure on opposing QBs, even if he hasn't gotten a sack yet. I'd like to give the guy more time and see what all he can really do, but except for that glaring 0 under sacks, he has been lights out.

Spencer hits the QB multiple times pretty much every game. I'm pretty sure he could play inside too.

Guy is a good football player.

I see Victor Butler more as a ILB than Spencer.

I heard that Wade is going to have Spencer start taking reps behind Romo....

Oh heck no. He is where he needs to be. He has the exact same number of QB pressures as Ware. Now he needs to get there.

Don't over react to a stat.

Agreed. Leave it all be. Working fine, Spence will get his. He looks fast enough to me.

I believe he should get more chances to rush the passer. According to Wade Phillips Demarcus Ware is rush majority of the time.

Look people.

Spencer isn't a rookie! His #1 role at OLB is to pressure and sack the quarterback and guess what?

He flat is NOT getting that done at all.

But what he has done well is covered people in the passing game and he's been generally OK against the run (though lost containment at times).

I'm telling you: his future IS at ILB OR as a backup.

Covering the flats is A LOT different than running 20 yards down the middle of the field with a tight end.

That's why he is really valueable.

I also believe Lawerence Timmons for the Steelers has done the same thing.

That's a good and valid point JBell. Maybe his lateral speed isn't enough as his backward speed!

But let me ask you this? Who do you think is faster...Bradie James or Anthony Spencer? I don't know myself....I'm curious.
