Why are people always trying to move or replace Spencer?

The game looks totally different inside, and he's never played there. Go look at two plays from the Spotgate series in Philly... It's on Theebs' thread with all the vid caps from Channel 11. On 2nd and 3rd down, we never get to 4th down if he doesn't make the play. And on 2nd down, he really hammered McCoy.

Just let him play where he is, and appreciate him.

It is called the Greg Ellis/Dexter Coakley void.

I just said it on another thread but its worth repeating, Spencer is going to be great in the NFL, by the time he retires he will be considered just as good as Ware.

Tell me, who you know that converted from a Defensive End, to a Outside linebacker position in the 3-4, to an inside linebacker in the 3-4?

Akin Adoyele played DE in college, OLBer in a 4-3 an ILB in the 3-4. It can be done. I think Farrior was in a similar situation as well.

I believe Mike Vrabel was a DE at Ohio State, played OLB and did play some ILB, although ne never fully made the switch.

Look at what I said and look at what you said.

it would be easier to come to Spencers defense if he had at least 1 sack in his new role... maybe he is just a passrush specialist, whats wrong with that? Oh! I forgot, the Jerry Draft haters will have something to crow about... get over it!

Jerry will always miss on draft picks.... bright side, at this point Spencer looks better than Kavika Pittman!

Bruschi was also all over the front 7 (starting out on DL in college, then a NFL OLB, then starring at ILB). Adalius Thomas also started out as DE, then OLB, also plays ILB (and S for the Ravens). But the guy who really excelled at multiple positions was Denver's Karl Mecklenberg. The guy played all over the front 7, and he did so at a pro bowl level.

Spencer is not really that type of player. He is a 3-4 OLB, but probably most suited to play the weakside.

Adalius Thomas played inside linebacker or plays inside linebacker?

i can see your train of thought there but he's been developed for several years now at olb not sure its going to work. At this point atleast he is good at stopping the run though. Maybe if we had gotten a premier pass rusher on his side at the deadline or something you can justify a move like that in the future with what $$ we've invested in him.
I am a fan of moving players around in blitz packages like bradie on the outside late last year and such in that regard do it see what happens .

For a guy that drops in coverage more, he has just as many pressures as Ware.

Spencer is definitely due, they will come.

Why stop there. Let's move Newman to OLB. He can really lay the wood and is good at covering as well.
