both need to be gone

u can not tie up that much money on rb and a bad qb

dak by himself is like 21 or 22% of the cap
Yeah, you nailed it. Without restructure Dak will be between 21 and 22 percent of the cap. Mahomes is at 20% for 2023.

Wrong.

The Franchise Tag is a good option for RBs and TEs because it is much smaller than for other positions.

Franchising Pollard and cutting Zeke will give them a season to develop a replacement (draft pick).

There is a reason that players/agents hate the Franchise Tag and Teams love it.

Except the Team is actually paying top5 salary/ cap hit to a player with no long term deal in place. Everyone harps over aav but it's rare for players cap hits to be near the aav on long term deals until the end which in most cases the team just cuts the player or extends them if they are still playing well, as most guarantees had run out. Outside of QBs due to their high ratio of guaranteed money to total money. But even then a guy like Dak cap hit has been under half of his aav so far. And it probably will be next year as well with another restructure. With the cap rising again like crazy its better to pay less up front and more potentially later.

Unless the team just wants an one and done with Pollard I don't see the point of eating that cap hit for a position like the rb spot. Just draft one if they don't want to keep him long term and save 9 mil. Running backs are a dime a dozen outside of a handful of players

A Franchise of Pollard + a pre June st cut of Zeke is 22 mil in cap space for 1 rb on the roster.

Like Schultz, Pollard isn't a top 5 player at his position. If they re-sign Schultz this off-season they screwed up again letting another player play on the tag.

Franchise would cost about 10mil.

...give Zeke less money. He'll take it.

Get new OC. THen we talk again during the year.

Pollard now with leg injuries, wont get the going rate.

They probably sign him a short deal. We dont even know how he'll respond.

Hell no he can make money with a team that has lots of cap space

Yep. $22 million is a ridiculous amount to have tied into the TB position.

I think he has to be cut and it has to be a June 1 cut. Just pull the band aid off and move on.

BTW, another wasted career for a Dallas Cowboy who was an All Pro for a while. We have guys who will be in the hall of fame who never played in the NFC Division title game. PS. Talking about Witten. Zeke won't make the hall or the ROH.

I'd let them both walk. Draft a RB and roll with rookie and Malik Davis. Davis showed promise in his limited role. We need to allocate resources to offensive line. What can 2 RBs do making 25 million between them with an offensive line that is average.

Cut them both loose.

Kenneth Walker - second round
breece hall - second round
Dameon Pierce - 4th round
Tyler Allgeier- 5th round
Isiah Pacheco - 7th round
James Cook - 2nd round

No need to ever ever pay a running back. There are literally talented guys all though the draft
I agree. We need to stop thinking RBs are some secret to success, and that the ones we have are special and need be retained

Cut Zeke and let Pollard walk. Get a second threat at WR through free agency or trade and use a 2-3rd rd on a RB. It's insane to invest that much money on this position.

We should give Pollard 14 million. Afterall it worked so well with Gallup. Stay away from athletes with leg injuries. Time to move on from both...

I heard Cowboy / Barkley rumor = Jerry leaking gossip . Stop . Barkley not durable except this past year in his “ contract year “ and too expensive . Let him go back to New Yawk .

Draft a running and have him under the rookie deal for 4 yrs bring Davis back and be very careful in bringing either 21 or 20 back .

Still no good answer why SF didn’t have to defend the run the entire second half . Davis should have been featured . Anyway Dallas needs to mix in fresh legs in the backfield going forward. Mitchell was not stopped in 4th quarter he spelled the Niners feature back with great success ,

Elliot already agreed to a pay cut. They will restructure and he will stay at cheaper rate. With Pollard injury it may cheapen his asking price. Elliot may not be starter unless we get a OC that uses him as a hammer for a while. Use the formula and both are successful. Get more O-Line and D-Line. DTs please. And WR, we will grab another RB later.

I am a big TP fan but he is not worth 10 million a year. Not many RB's are (if any). You can't win in the NFL overpaying your RBs. And before you give me "CMC wins", he was traded from the Panthers to an already stack team. The Panther's couldn't win with him.

Invest that money in the OL and then ANY back can be a superstar.

Yes, the list clearly shows that RBs and TEs are the best franchise tag value.

Cap hit for a specific season is not the issue. They manage the cap on a multi-year basis, not each year in isolation.

If the Tag is 10M then the actual cost and impact on the overall multi-year cap accounting is 10M if Pollard tagged and Zeke cut.

Any additional cap hit over 10M in 2022 is for money already spent. It is not relevant to the decision unless they have no flexibility to restructure other contracts which has only happened 1 year for the Cowboys in the past 20 years.
