spending the lockout as a substitute teacher

this has got to be worse than playing golf during the offseason, right? I mean, completely seperated from the team, only a playbook to stay connected. Forget about wanting to help the community and spending time with his kid.....it should be football, football, right??

While some NFL players are spending the enforced offseason in workouts with their teammates and others (like Minnesota's Ray Edwards(notes) and Baltimore's Tom Zbikowski(notes)) are spending it in the boxing ring, third-year safety David Bruton(notes) of the Denver Broncos has set himself on a different path — he's spending the lockout as a substitute teacher at his old high school in Ohio, teaching social studies and credit recovery (yes, they have those classes for teenagers now) for the not-so princely sum of $90 per day.

$90 a day is rediculous. What he needs to do is call Dee Smith to get involved and get that teacher's union decertified. Then they can sue the school district for for antitrust violations. Screw the administration and especially the kids.

I know he's not making nearly what he makes playing football but if he can impact just one of those kids it was well worth it imo.

Perhaps what sucks BALLS is that people have such a low regard for teachers. Folks are perfectly happy to leave their kids in a teacher's care but god forbid they give the profession any respect or support higher salaries.

Takingf the discussion back to football: Coaches are teachers for players, and that is the lsot group in this whole labor dispute in the NFL. Dallas last year was acase-in-point displaying the impsct that bad and good coaching can have on player and team success.

........'lowly' subs are NOT union members which is why they aren't paid worth a poop. (being facetious...they aren't lowly and should be paid what a regular teacher gets paid per day...roughly $175-200ish)

No, they shouldn't. When they get the education, and certification required to be a teacher, THEN they can get paid those big 175 dollars a day.
