It warrants a suspension just because of WHEN it happened and WHO was involved. This all matters...from a player conduct point of view and public image. It was very telling that the NFL left "spitgate" in the official cut of the NFL game recap. That means: a) The league knows they couldn't bury the unsightly and unseemly behavior. b) They decided to monetize it and use it as drama, but c) to cover over a and b...the league will rein down hell on Carter. The NFL sees itself as carrying the torch and setting the example for professional sportsmanship. Boxers hit each other...but not below the belt. So once this went viral, the league is going to show that they don't "tolerate" this behavior. I see them asking for 3 games and maybe getting 1.

yeah, but all provocations do not warrant physical confrontation. By that same logic, Carter approached the Cowboys huddle...and no lineman or football player is good with that during the game. So...does that mean Dak was "provoked" into spitting? It's circular logic.

As a neutral (Packer) fan, I look at what occurred between Dak and Carter in 1 of 2 ways.

Number 1, Dak was just defending his turf and Carter, who was already out of line by being near the Dallas huddle, reacted idiotically.

Number 2, Dak knew exactly what he was doing and goaded Carter into acting like an imbecile. If true, Dak gets extra credit.

Either way, Dak did nothing wrong.
