Is this one of things where this person needs $5,000 a week for clothes, $2,000 a week on vacations etc.

Sad

Is that if you get married there, or reside there?
Makes no difference where you get married, as long as you get divorced here... :D

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- A Connecticut judge has ordered CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz to pay his ex-wife $916,000 a year  in alimony and child support.

Monday's ruling comes after Nantz and his ex-wife, Lorrie, testified about the breakdown of their 26-year marriage. Bridgeport Superior Court Judge Howard Owens concluded neither was at fault.

Nantz must pay $72,000 monthly in alimony until he dies or his ex-wife remarries, and another $1,000 weekly in child support for their 15-year-old daughter, Caroline, for the next two years. Lorrie Nantz will get their six-bedroom home in Westport.

Court documents cited Jim Nantz's $3.2 million salary from CBS and other yearly assets.

Nantz's attorney says Nantz will not appeal the decision.

Connecticut....good grief.

I'm told Texas caps alimony at either 3 or 5 years after 50-50 division of assets...not until death or remarriage.

I'll never understand even the 50-50 split, but I'm no expert. It seems even that would be capped at a few million. Even in no fault you hear of 100 million dollar settlements. They say maybe the primary earner would not have gotten were they were without the spouse. That is highly, highly debatable. And even if it did help, it could never, ever help to the tune of 100 million (for example). If that theory held up, even then a spouse giving great support to a chief of the fire department may do as much or more than a spouse of a Fortune 500 CEO...so why does one get a pennies and the other get tens of millions....the whole idea rewards people for marrying "money". Prostitution to some degree.
