Spotrac: Parsons could command $42M based on $280M salary cap

highly doubt any of their cap hits will ever be the aav at the same time. still not ideal, but far different.
So, if I'm doing my math correctly, that would be $142 million out of a projected $280 million cap (51%) on three players. That's a lovely plan.

I don't care about the Chiefs. This the Cowboy and Jerry and the spoiled damn man child we are talking about. As far as I'm concerned, Parsons should be traded yesterday!

By the way, did you know I despise that player? He is going to be nothing but trouble if they keep him for the money he will get.
he's giving you an example of what the Cowboys could do with Micah. Stop being weird for a minute.

1 sack in 4 playoff games (and we know he ain’t stopping the run) while his defense gave up 6 TDs in the first 7 possessions vs GB. A MP defense capable of forcing 0 punts vs good offenses as we’ve seen too many times.

Dorance had 3 sacks, including a sack fumble just this year in playoffs.
you know Dorance was on the same defense yeah?

Why? Just my opinion but it seems to be the most accurate way to project contracts.
Does anyone know what the league standard is for the DE group as a % of CAP?

I think you have to look at things as % of cap but as position groups not individuals, FWIW.

well if you figure Micah is twice the player that Osa is as we give him $21 million a year then Micah should ask for $42 million a year

I like Parson's fire and intensity, and there is little doubt that he's our best player on defense. But having said that, I would not shell out $40-$42 million a year for this talent. Think instead of what you could do with that money. Trade Parsons for a top 10 pick plus a couple of additional picks. With that $42 million you would spend on Parson, instead spend it on keeping Osa and acquiring Milton Williams from the Eagles. That would absolutely upgrade our DT position immediately. With the pick from trading Parsons, you may be able to get Abdul Carter or another LB/DE. Our DL going into next season could be a rotation of DLaw (if they can bring him back on a reasonable one-year deal), M. Williams, Osa, Mazi, Kneeland, Sam Williams, and rookie DE/LB. Also get a LB in free agency like Bolton to pair with Liafu, Kendricks and Overshown when he comes back. Eberflus could put together a pretty impressive front seven with that group.

great, with his run play, we can look forward to lots of 2nd and five or fours, and lots of 2nd and longs being turned into 3rd and short.

Trade him. Will this team never learn from its past mistakes of paying-out huge, franchise-crippling contracts after players have already played their best football for you?

is he really or is he hyped up to be that good (Micah)
he makes some flash plays that end up on highlight reels, but more often gets abused in the trenches on his run game.
His soft run D is way more of a detriment than the benefit of his occasional flash play. Second and manageable, third and short, poor spots for the D to be put in.
And before anyone starts making excuses about double teams, holds and scheming for him, do Bosa and Watt not get schemed, held and double teamed?
Their run play dwarfs his.

I question how much he’s even worth in a trade, if the acquiring team knows they have to pay him 42 million per year average… Is he worth anything at that point?
Was thinking the same thing lol…this thread is full of arguments as to why no GM in his right mind would ever pay Parsons that much, but also think GMs will give up high draft picks for the privilege of paying him that much.
