Dallas-based agent Jordan Woy disputes a TMZ Sports report naming former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Robert Jones as the primary suspect in a police investigation in Cleveland after allegedly trying to hire a hit man to take out his agent.
Woy was Jones’ agent during his NFL career and said the story is not true from his angle.
“I was Robert's agent,” Woy said. “We are still close friends. I represent his nephew. Don't believe this story."
According to a police report obtained by TMZ sports, a 47-year-old man named Theodore told police that Jones approached him and tried to hire Theo to take out Jones' agent.
Woy said he has recently talked to Jones and called the story bogus.
Jones, who won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys in the 1990s and now lives in Austin, has not been arrested or charged with a crime.
