Defense end Anthony Spencer can already tell his surgically repaired left knee is fixed, but he wishes he could speed up the rehab.
"I’m just focused on getting healthy," Spencer said. "I still can’t do a lot of running around and stuff, the stuff that I want to do, so I don’t feel very encouraged right now. I’ve still got a little bit of time, so I’m working on getting healthy."
Spencer had minor surgery July 26. He has been back in camp rehabbing and now can lift, walk, do the elliptical and some StairMaster. He would rather be practicing.
"Reps are the only way you can get better at football. I know that," Spencer said.
He expects to rehab for another 2-3 weeks but vows to be back for the Sept. 8 season opener.
“I’m hoping I can do some stuff for the preseason, but if I can’t, I can’t,” Spencer said. “I’m just going to take my time and get healthy.”
