If the NFL was like college and Johnny Manziel got to pick where he wanted to go, he would call DFW his new home. The Texas A&M quarterback was born during a Cowboys game and has long been a fan of the team with the star on its helmets.

Manziel was a frequent visitor to AT&T Stadium the past two years, attending several Cowboys games and watching the semifinals of Final Four weekend as a guest of Jerry Jones in the owner's suite.

Though he'd love to play for Jones and the Cowboys, Manziel also hopes to be long gone by the time Commissioner Roger Goodell calls out the Cowboys' pick at No. 16.

"That’s the team I grew up rooting for and grew up watching," Manziel said in New York on Wednesday. "To be able to know Jerry on a little more personable level now, going to games at his suite or going to Cowboys Stadium and running into him, for me, that was something that was really cool. He’s a huge figure in the state of Texas and being from the state of Texas, it was really cool to get a chance to know him and get to know him more. The way he has treated me has been great. I would obviously like to go a little bit sooner than that, but it’s out of my control and whatever happens, happens."

Rumors the past two days have Cleveland not taking him at No. 4 but Jacksonville strongly considering him at No. 3. Minnesota and Tampa Bay are two other spots Manziel could land.

"Teams are holding their cards really close to their vest," Manziel said. "Whether it's 1 or 200, I'm just ready to get back on the football field and just start playing football. That's what I want to do, and that's what I'm here to do."
