Cole Beasley has an outside hope of being ready for Saturday’s preseason game against Cincinnati, but he said he hasn’t put full body weight on his injured ankle yet.

“I’ve got to get where I can run on my normal body weight,” he said. “I still really haven’t run yet. I’ve got to get to where I can run on my normal body weight. After that, I have to get to where I can plant and make cuts and do the things that receivers do. So, I’ve got a little bit.

“Hopefully I’ll be practicing before the week’s over, but I’m not sure. We’ll see.”

Beasley hurt his ankle in the Aug. 9 game against Oakland. He spent the last week of camp in a boot.

He said Monday was the first day he tried significant activity on the ankle.

“It was real sore after,” he said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to practice before the week is over and get back for the Cincinnati game. But I’ve just got to take it day by day and see how it feels.”
