Cole Beasley returned to practice Monday, wishing there were more preseason games so he could make his case like last year.

“I definitely don’t feel like I got enough work,” the second-year receiver said. “It’s four games for a reason, or I guess, five this preseason. I definitely feel like I want another one, though.”

Beasley, who hurt his foot in the second preseason game, was asked if the coaches might be thinking “big picture” with him and being extra careful with his recovery.

“I don’t know what they’re thinking and all that. I’m still thinking like a free agent receiver trying to make the team right now,” he said. “I’m trying to get out there as soon as possible and make sure they know what I can do.”

Beasley made the team last year as an undrafted player out of SMU. He played in 11 games and caught 15 passes. In the preseason this year, he had four catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

He said Tuesday’s practice will be more intense because he will work in the team period. He did only individual drills Monday.

“It’s going to be a lot different with cuts and not knowing when they’re coming and reactions and stuff,” he said. “So we’ll see how my foot does through that. Hopefully that’ll be alright so I can play Thursday, I hope.”
