Cornerback Morris Claiborne said something feels different to him this year about how hard the Cowboys have worked from the time the season ended last year.
“I know everyone comes in saying we’ve worked hard this offseason – all teams say that,” he said. “But I really feel something special about this team, from the offseason and the camp we’re having, all the way to now.”
Claiborne only has one year to compare the feeling against. Last year, he was a rookie and experienced an 8-8 season.
But he said he is not the only one who feels like that, and no one wants to think about being 8-8 again.
“I can feel it in the locker room,” he said. “A lot of guys don’t want that feeling anymore. I feel like our leadership around here has changed since last year. Guys are really stepping up, being vocal, and also doing it on the practice field.”
Claiborne, who missed four weeks because of a knee injury, said he is ready to play on Sunday against the Giants, but that he won’t be in peak condition.
“I know if I had to go play a game tomorrow, I feel like I can get through that whole game, but I’m going to get a little winded,” he said.
