With a string of injuries in the defensive line, the Cowboys do need a camp body to help get them through practice. Two of their top three defensive ends are out, with Tyrone Crawford (Achilles) lost for the year and Anthony Spencer (knee) requiring surgery, and they are without staring defensive tackle Jay Ratliff (hamstring).
Defensive tackle Ikponmwosa Igbinosun was wearing a walking boot at practice Tuesday.

The Cowboys had backup defensive tackle Ben Bass line up with the first-team at end in Spencer’s place Tuesday.

Cowboys officials are looking at all their options in the defensive line, where they are down to 10 healthy players. They could add a defensive linemen in the next couple of days but don't expect that signing to be a big name.

“We’ve got a lot of options,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday. “We really do relative to what we’ve got. But we’re evaluating what is there, because of our numbers. We’ve got to watch practicing [with so few linemen]. That would be more the incentive to get somebody in here to practice than it would be to think we’re bringing somebody in to help us.”

Jones is hoping Ratliff will return soon, but they want to make sure his hamstring is fully healed before getting him back on the field. Ratliff was injuried in the conditioning test Saturday.

"I think there’s a good chance [he's back soon], but we’ll just kind of play his by ear," Jones said. "The best way to say that is we’ve got plenty of time on Ratliff."
