NFL defenders don't get a chance to practice their craft much. Hitting generally is frowned upon in practice situations. But in Sunday's Blue-White Scrimmage, the Cowboys' defenders get to play tackle football. It'll be the first time the defense has tackled anybody since the loss to the Commanders on Dec. 30.

"At the end of the day, we think it’s a good idea for the younger players to play some tackle football," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "We’ll stay away from the quarterbacks, but we’ll tackle the backs and the receivers. It just gives them a chance to get rid of the cobwebs prior to next week and just kind of understand what hitting and tackling all the way to the ground before the game in Canton."

Garrett said the first team will practice a lot of situational football. They will work on their red-zone plays and their two-minute offense.
