Cowboys guard Ron Leary, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last Friday, is hoping to return to the lineup for the season opener against the Giants Sept. 8.
The recovery time is usually two to four weeks but Leary is shooting to be back in two weeks.
"I'll be all right," Leary said. "They say about two weeks. But I'm just taking it day by day right now."
Leary, who seemingly won the starting job at left guard, is disappointed he will be out of lineup and missing time to continue to develop his skills as well as chemistry on the offensive line.
But believes he will be ready to jump right back in there when he's given the green light.
"It’s been good," Leary said. "I’m not where I want to be, but I’m just trying to get better every week, trying to get better every day and just try to build on it. I don’t think this is a setback at all. It’s just… I’ll get through with no problem. You want to get out there and get those rpes. But I'll be all right."
