The Cowboys don't appear to have any idea whether Kyle Orton will participate in the offseason before the mandatory mini-camp.
"That's a good question," executive Vice President Stephen Jones told KRLD in a radio interview on Monday.
He chuckled when he said it, but it is a serious issue for the Cowboys, who have starter Tony Romo coming off back surgery. Romo is participating in the voluntary workouts, but the Cowboys have also added two other quarterbacks this spring.
"That's just a situation we'll have to work through," Jones said. "We expect when mandatory practices start and the mandatory things begin, we fully expect Kyle to be there."
The mandatory mini-camp is June 10-12. Organized team activities begin May 27.
Orton apparently has made it known he is considering retirement. But the veteran showed his value to the Cowboys in Week 17 last year, stepping in after Romo's back surgery to lead the team effectively against Philadelphia as the teams played for the NFC championship.
