Defensive end Edgar Jones will miss at least the next seven games as the Cowboys placed him on the injured reserve/designated to return list Friday. Jones was inactive the past two games after straining his groin and required surgery.
Dr. William Meyers of Philadelphia, considered the top groin/hernia specialist in the country, recently performed sports hernia surgery on Jones. Dr. Meyers also operated on Jay Ratliff last year. Ratliff was released by the Cowboys this week.
Jones is eligible to practice in six weeks and can play in the Dec. 15 game against the Packers. He played in the first four games, making five tackles, with three pressures and one pass breakup.
