The Cowboys made it official Tuesday, releasing safety Eric Frampton after reaching an injury settlement with him. Frampton would be eligible to return Week 10 if the Cowboys have a need, though they currently have five safeties.
Frampton was one of the team's core special teams players last season after he signed Sept. 25. He led the Cowboys with 21 special teams tackles. Injuries forced the Cowboys to start him in a game against New Orleans last season, the first start of his career. He also started the season finale at Washington.
Frampton injured his groin Aug. 11 and never practiced again.
