The Cowboys announced the signing of defensive tackle Marvin Austin, a 2011 second-round pick of the New York Giants who was cut by the Dolphins last week.
He is the third defensive lineman signed off the street by the Cowboys since Week 4, when they signed Drake Nevis. Last week, the Cowboys signed defensive end Jarius Wynn and one of their own practice squad players, Jason Vega.
Austin, 24, was the 52nd pick two years ago out of North Carolina. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve with the Giants because of a chest injury. He played in eight games last year and was released after training camp this year. Miami signed him on Sept. 24, and he played two games before his release.
The Cowboys also re-signed guard Ray Dominguez and receiver Jamar Newsome to the practice squad.
