Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia is interviewing for the Commanders head coaching job today, according to a source.
The Washington Post reported that Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell and Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell also are candidates for the job previously held by Mike Shanahan.
ESPN first reported the Commanders' interest in Bisaccia, who coached in Tampa Bay when Commanders general manager Bruce Smith also was with the Bucs.
It is the second consecutive season the Cowboys have had their special teams coach interview for a head coaching job. Joe DeCamillis interviewed for the Bears' opening last year and eventually joined Marc Trestman's staff after the Cwoboys let DeCamillis out of his contract.
Teams interviewing for head coaches do not have to be granted permission as is the case for assistants under contract seeking to leave for other assistant jobs.
Bisaccia, 52, left Auburn after only 22 days to join the Cowboys after DeCamillis' departure last year. The Cowboys also interviewed Bruce DeHaven and Alan Lowry for the job.
The Cowboys special teams units were solid, with kicker Dan Bailey making 28 of 30 field goals, punter Chris Jones having a 45.4 average and a 39.5 net and returner Dwayne Harris having a punt return touchdown and a 30.5 kickoff return average.
