The Cowboys are bracing for news about Sean Lee’s left knee. The linebacker hurt it on the first day of organized team activities at Valley Ranch on Tuesday, less than 10 minutes before the practice ended.
The team said Lee was expected to see a doctor Tuesday afternoon. He was helped off the field by two trainers, and although he was was putting weight on both legs, he was clearly distressed.
“Unfortunate he’s had to deal with a few of these things,” coach Jason Garrett said. “But he’s as mentally tough an individual as I’ve ever been around, so whatever the circumstances are, he always puts his best foot forward and strives to be his best. So don’t anticipate this being any different.”
Lee missed five games last year because of a quadriceps injury. He missed 10 games the year before because of a broken toe. The year before that, he missed a game because of a dislocated wrist.
He was hurt in the OTA when he appeared to slip as he prepared to take on a block from rookie right guard Zack Martin, the team’s No. 1 pick in the draft.
“I know he was chasing a play out to the side, and he went down,” Garrett said.”
Martin said, “I don’t really know what happened. Two guys playing hard. I really don’t know. We were just both running out and ended up going against each other right in the open field.”
