The Dallas Cowboys have three open roster spots heading into the start of training camp this weekend after releasing tackle J.B. Shugarts and quarterback Dalton Williams on Wednesday.

The Cowboys already had one open spot following last week's release of fullback Lawrence Vickers.

The number is actually expected to grow to four with the expected suspension of defensive tackle Josh Brent, who is facing intoxication manslaughter charges for the death of practice-squad player Jerry Brown last December. The NFL is expected to determine Brent's status before the Cowboys leave for camp on Friday.

The Cowboys worked out five players on Tuesday in anticipation of the possible openings on the roster but have yet to sign anyone to a contract. The workout participants included quarterbacks Kyle Padron, Chase Clement and Alex Tanney and receivers DeWayne Peace, Lavasier Tuinei, Gino Crump, Devin Godo and Antoine Hicks.
