Dez Bryant finally got the pass interference call he was looking for Sunday against the Eagles, and the referee mic caught him yelling, “Thank you! Thank you!”
The Cowboys receiver, who thought he should have drawn two other PIs, smiled about it in the locker room after the game.
“I’m not going to lie,” he said. “I don’t want to be a pain for the refs. But damn, some things are just obvious. And that ref … “
Bryant stopped himself.
“You know what? I’m just happy he called it,” he said and laughed.
Bryant, asked if his lobbying for a call paid off later in the game, said, “No, I don’t want to get in their ear. But if it’s obvious, it’s obvious. … I got kind of frustrated, you know, on some of the calls today, but I let it go and stayed focused.”
Bryant did get a kick out of talking about one of the officials who appeared ready to throw his flag after Bryant appeared to be held.
“The guy was getting ready to throw the flag,” Bryant said and shook his head with a smile. “He put it back in his pocket and I’m like, ‘I don’t care if you having trouble getting the flag out – still throw it.’ ”
Another time, Bryant said the official acted like he didn’t know what Bryant was talking about.
“The guy was just looking at me like I wasn’t even there,” Bryant said, still laughing to himself. “I’m like, ‘I know you see me talking to you, man – he holding me.’ … It’s just how this game works, man. Just the way it is.”
